Guest Wi-Fi with a portal
Guests and staff shouldn't share a network, especially when the register or security cameras run on the same Wi-Fi.
A separate guest network gets set up with no access to the venue's other devices. When a visitor connects, they see a simple welcome page, with the venue's name, say, instead of typing in a password every time.
For the owner, it's also a small channel to reach visitors: that page can link to the menu, social media, or a promotion, without hiring a developer for it.
At a coffee shop, the Wi-Fi password used to be chalked on a board and rarely changed: nobody wanted the hassle of updating it. After setting up a guest network with its own landing page, no password was needed at all, and the work network with the register stayed isolated from guests.
That way a guest gets Wi-Fi without any fuss, and the work side of the network stays closed off to outsiders.
What's included:
- A separate network, isolated from work devices
- A simple welcome page on connect
- Speed limits for the guest network, if needed
